Republican Greed and Corruption Rampant in Washington:

Values Trampled, Betrayed

Republicans said they shared our values and would protect our way of life. They promised to lead by example and be loyal servants to God and country.

But far too many Republicans have broken their promise to our families. They’ve failed to preserve our values. They’ve failed to fight the sinful culture that threatens our way of life. They’ve been lured by special interests while more families and children have been endangered by crime and poverty.

And what’s worse—they’ve played a role in the very sins we sent them to fight.

In the course of the past year, our “leaders” have committed the most sinful offenses imaginable. They’ve blatantly misled the American public about numerous issues. They’ve accepted bribes. They’ve committed adultery. They’ve endangered children.
And they’ve stood before God and lied about their crimes.

After promising to uphold our values, numerous Republicans have been indicted or convicted. First, Congressmen Bob Ney and Duke Cunningham pled guilty to accepting bribes. Now we learn there are sex predators roaming the halls of Congress. What’s worse— we now know the Republican leadership has covered up the depraved activities of a child sex predator to stay in power.

Our values are once again weathering a brutal assault. But this time it’s coming from the very people who promised to protect them. They campaigned on a platform of moral values. But what they’ve done is a moral outrage.

It’s A Moral Outrage

Republicans Failed Their Duty to Serve and Protect Our Families

The Bible tells us that “the love of money is the root of all evil,” (I Timothy 6:10) and the Republican Congress has proven this lesson true. Although they claim to follow God’s path of righteousness, the Washington Republicans have turned their backs on our families at every turn.

They’ve voted to cut veterans’ health care.1 They’ve opposed a $1,500 bonus for America’s noble combat soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan.2 They’ve taken contributions from Big Oil and voted not to put an end to price gouging.3 They’ve let the drug companies write the drug laws at the expense of our seniors.4 And they’ve voted to give themselves multiple pay raises while refusing to increase the minimum wage for America’s working families.

When they got elected, Republicans swore to serve God and country, but they’ve only served themselves. They do not share our values.
“Dr. James C. Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family and one of the most influential Christian conservatives, has publicly accused Republican leaders of betraying the social conservatives who helped elect them in 2004.”5
